The incident happened on Friday, May 3 just after 2:30 p.m., when a child was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Alder Street and Spruce Street in Yonkers, Detective Sergeant Frank DiDomizio said.
According to DiDomizio, an investigation determined that the boy ran out into traffic before being hit. He suffered a broken left leg and was taken to a nearby hospital where he is now in stable condition.
The driver of the vehicle was found to have a learner's permit and was later issued a summons for not having a licensed driver in the car, DiDomizio said.
DiDomizio also added that the incident was investigated as an accident and no criminal activity or impairment was suspected.
